Mama Js : Richmond Crabcake

Mama J's

Fried Chicken, cabbage, Mac & cheese

Smothered pork chops, Mac & cheese, greens

When I'm not in the mood for Korean barbecue, Mexican, Fake Mexican, or Hibachi, I can probably be found in a Soul Food restaurant. I love soul food, I just go other in hopes of making healthier food choices. Sometimes you just have to have a fried pork chop though, you know?

When I just have to have that fried pork chop, I come to Mama J's.

When I want to have the feeling of eating a home-cooked meal without cooking, I come to Mama J's

This is a small family owned soul food joint in Jackson Ward. It's not uncommon to see Mama J come to your table and ask if you're enjoying everything. I could come up with 1000 descriptive words about the food, but I won't. It's just good. It tastes like all the cooks are over 100 years old in the kitchen. The menu items are common to most soul food restaurants, but the quality is not. They take great pride in their food and service here. You can tell. Go get your soul fed.

Honorable Mention : Seafood salad, smothered chicken

Crabcakes
