 Two words for you! Croaker's and Spot! 

This well known place has been an icon in Richmond for what seems like forever. They cover their famous fish boats with peppers and onions cooked in their own special sauce. I recommend you get a seafood platter to try it all and figure out what you like best. Come hungry, their portions are huge. It's common place to get one more piece of fish than you order, so adjust your order accordingly.

When I'm able to get away from the fish I order Southern Sauteed Chicken.  They masterfully saute chicken breasts and put them over a bed of rice, then smother your plate in mushroom gravy. Comes with a hearty helping of cabbage and a cinderblock of SWEET cornbread. It doesn't get better than that!

They recently won a "Hoodie Award" for the nations best Soul Food. That's a good look for the Richmond Area!
